It could be to get more men into the salon , i do get what you mean and it is wrong more woman now have shorter hair than the blokes, but there is no law to say how much thay can charge thay can charge what ever thay like as long as it displayed, but 43 quid is very cheap for H/L and cut and blow. Why is it cheaper for men to get their hair done?
Thats becoz men never notices their hair like that of women,as 4 a women it should be perfect.
Because, in general, women have much longer hair than men. But I really think it has to do with time. Even in the case of short hairstyles, women want style and frivolity with their cuts, while men just want the length shortened. Yeah, maybe it is a bit discriminating, but not wholly unfounded.
'cos a man only wants it shorter
a lady wants it cutting nicely
cuz men aren't that bothered about style
Market forces and the laws of supply and demand.
As a man I would never pay a lot to get my hair done. If the barber put up the price I'd just give myself a No. 2 buzzcut.
A woman would never do this, and would never trust her hair to a cheap hairdresser. Therefore they not only pay more, but will insist on not paying less.
If the PC brigade demands equal pricing then the only men who will have their hair done will be gay. The rest of us will just do it ourselves.
Men are more contented with they hair do then women
I think it just has to do with the fact that MOST men have shorter hair, which cost less to cut and highlight, and MOST women have longer hair which takes more product, which raisies the cost of the products they are using which causes you pay more. I think hair salons do this so that there is a fixed price for the cut and style. If they say certain hair types cost a certain amount it would get confusing, people would try to haggle down the prices, and so forth. It doesn't have anything to do with sex discrimintation. It just makes it easier for the salons.
men generaly have less hair and are lower maintenece than women...it is kind of discriminatory i guess but if you go to an expensive salon/spa type place the price would be about equal
It's because women care. Men would rather spend their money on electronic gadgets. I don't know any guys who would spend 43 pounds on a haircut. I do mine myself. If we go with the sexist ruling and buck the prices up can we start charging the girls who go to night clubs on girls night and get in free when the rest of us pay 5 pounds?
Oh please.
It's because men are not picky, (which makes it easy to cut their hair) and because men usually do not have such difficult hairstyles.
It simply takes much more time to cut womens' hair, and it's women's fault, much like the fact that women take forever in public restrooms, then whine over long lines.
There are all sorts of things that discriminate in favor of women.
There are ';women's only'; health clubs, for instance, but they can't have men only clubs, or feminists sue and shut them down. Nobody does anything to the women only clubs though.
The Girls Clubs have only girls (as they should), but the feminists have sued Boys Club into forcing them to accept girls.
How about ';Ladies nights'; at dance clubs?
And the fact that when women fill up their restrooms as public events (as mentioned above) they go into the men's restrooms, and nothing at all happens to them. Men would be immediately taken to jail if they did that.
I could go on and on and on....
Because most men have shorter hair than most women. I think that is the assumption... less hair = less time to cut!!!
It's gotta be because men don't expect therapy, relationship advise or need their egos masaged..... just shorter hair!!
i think it should be priced on each individual but i think women are more likely to spend lots of money just for a haircut whereas men wouldn't and the hairdressers take advantage of that and they probably come up with a ridiculous excuse to do it so it wont be illegal because they are actually basing the pricing on something, god only knows what though!
and some of the prices they charge is madness my friend pays about 120euro th have a colour, it only takes about 2 hours to have it done, how much does the dye cost??, my guess is not alot, which means there making 60 euro an hour!!!

Please ask this question again in the ';Law %26amp; Ethics'; subcategory of ';Politics %26amp; Government.
The nearest hairdresser/beautician in my trafficsignal-less town has a ratecard posted with her standard prices. There's no discount for shorter hair. There are specific surcharges for longer hair and for ever longer hair with lengths clearly defined. This isn't a ';fine print'; thing, it's neatly hand-printed with inch-high letters.
I can imagine that te 43/guys and 28/gals ';special'; wouldn't be discriminatory *if* it could be shown that the opposite pricing was offered just as often at different times.
